Proving that infographics are still hugely popular, quotable and shareable, here’s a nice infographic from Famemass, which looks at how much time people spend connected to social media, and on which specific platforms.
Roughly 45% of the world’s population uses social media, with an average of 2 hours and 23 minutes spent per day on social media.
That’s a steady increase from 1 hour and 30 minutes in 2012.
60% of users say they are constantly connected.
Average Daily Time Spent Per Platform
When it comes to social media platforms, not surprisingly Facebook leads the pack, with an average of 58 minutes spent per day on the platform. Instagram comes a close second at 53 minutes, and YouTube at 40 minutes per day. Twitter has a poor showing at just 3 minutes per day, which did surprise me.
Motivations For Using Social Media
This is the most interesting part of the research for me. If you can tap into these motivations you will go a long way towards reaching your target audience.
